Dr. Shirley Neeley

Shirley Neeley, a former teacher since the early 70's and eventually Superintendent of Education at Galena Park School District for over 10 years was tapped by Governor Perry in 2004 to be the State of Texas Commissioner of Education.  At the time Shirley was an very active Harleys Angels Member. Such an honor for Shirley and a reflection on the quality and type of Angel Volunteers.  Shirley moved to Austin to assume the highest education position in the State of Texas.  She was nominated and inducted in 2006 to the Hall of Fame for the work she did with Texas and Lousiana School children in the wake of Katrina.  Read her full story at the link below!

Shirley can be seen in the 2004 Harleys Angels Calendar descending down the Steps of a Lunar Craft when the Calendar was shot at NASA.  Bright Red Hair and Smilng.

1984 The State of Texas created the Texas Womens's Hall of Fame and every two years nominates outstanding Texas Women.  In 2003 Texas Womens's Hall of Fame moved as a permanent exhibit to Texas Womans University in Denton, Texas.  I am an alumni, and proud to see a Harleys Angel on permanent exhibit at my college.

Once an Angel Always an Angel!  Congratulations Shirley Neeley!
